Mississippi girls know how to cook great Southern dishes, host elegant Southern parties, and always look their best when they walk out the door. I’m sure proud to be a lifelong Mississippi girl, but honestly I can’t do any of those things. I do love blue plate specials, sweet tea, any kind of party, walking Lula and Beau, watching my boy’s sporting events, learning all the girlie things with my three precious granddaughters, singing all the great Baptist hymns (I mouth the words since I can’t make a joyful noise), going to the beach, reading a good book, being outside in the Mississippi heat, and pretty much everything about my husband!
I graduated from Ole Miss in 1988 and taught 5th grade for one year. My short teaching career was followed by a busy life at home chasing, pitching, catching, biking, rebounding, swimming, and climbing with my two sons. When our younger son started school I also went back to school to become a REALTOR. After selling real estate in Mississippi for 20 years I decided it was time to open my own real estate company. In 2019 Dye & Company was established.
I can honestly say I love what I do and where I live. Keeping my client’s best interest at heart and using my years of experience in the real estate business ensure that my clients will have the best possible experience with their home purchase or sale. I strive to help my clients make the best possible decision when buying or selling their home. I always want it to be a fun experience.
Growing up with a father who served in state government meant that mom, my two younger brothers and I travelled across Mississippi every four years campaigning with and for dad. By our last campaign, I was carrying my own son to events. I enjoyed meeting people and making friends across Mississippi…. families that made a living from the waters of our Gulf Coast, farmers and workers from all across the state, and lots of folks in small towns not even big enough to find on a map. My brothers and I were raised to appreciate our state and to value the opportunity to give back and observe her people.
While campaigning is no longer part of my life, officiating high school football and volunteering continue to give me a chance to travel across Mississippi and meet people and hear their stories. Whether officiating football games, advising college men at our Universities, or serving on the boards of Methodist Senior Services and Wesley Biblical Seminary, I am always learning something and staying connected.
Shannon and I are fortunate that our children and grandchildren live in Mississippi, and joining them at church, school and sporting events is a blessing. Their energy and enthusiasm are a reminder to enjoy and embrace each day.
The best part of real estate for me is working and spending time with Shannon. Like Shannon, I enjoy meeting people and learning about their lives. When we are helping people find or sell homes, each day brings something new. The variety of the homes we see and the people living in them reminds me of traveling across the state during those campaigns. Shannon and I get a first-hand look at floor plans, decor, landscaping, and how families make living spaces a home. Whether it is a couple looking for their first home or empty nesters looking to downsize, we love hearing about your plans and working with you to find the home that is right for you.
